Bringing Global Inspiration Back for Your Home Decor

Crimson Design Group’s founder + CEO, Cheryl, loves to travel the world and bring back design inspiration in her suitcase. Cheryl’s unique travels and treasures ensure that no two projects are ever the same. Channel your inner Cheryl and bring back some inspiration from your summer travels to incorporate into your home! Here are just some of our ideas:

1. Curate a Global Color Palette
Different regions of the world are characterized by distinct color palettes. Incorporate these into your home to pay homage to your favorite destinations:

Mediterranean Blues and Whites: Use deep blues and crisp whites for peak saturation.
Indian Vibrance: Opt for bold, vibrant hues like saffron, fuchsia, and turquoise.
Scandinavian Neutrals: Embrace muted colors such as whites, grays, and pastels for a minimalist look.

2. Integrate Traditional Textiles
Textiles are a great way to bring the texture and warmth of global cultures into your home:

Rugs and Carpets: Lay down a Persian rug, or Moroccan-style carpet. Try layering a couple different options!
Throws and Cushions: Add throws or cushions made from globally-inspired or brightly colored fabrics.
Curtains and Upholstery: Choose fabrics that reflect the traditional patterns and colors of the regions you love.

3. Celebrate Local Art
Art can vividly express a destination you love. Bring home pieces that resonate with you:

Paintings and Prints: Display artwork by local artists you discovered during your travels.
Sculptures and Figurines: Sprinkle sculptures or figurines into your decor that reflect the culture and traditions of the places you’ve visited.

4. Embrace Cultural Motifs and Patterns
Cultural motifs and patterns can instantly transport you back to your most favorite destinations:

Tiles and Mosaics: Incorporate Moroccan tiles or Spanish mosaics in your kitchen or powder rooms.
Wallpaper: Use wallpaper with traditional patterns like colorful Moroccan textures, or bright Mexican patterns.

5. Add Greenery and Natural Elements
Bring the natural elements and plants of your favorite places traveled into your home:

Indoor Plants: Choose plants that remind you of the places you’ve visited, like succulents for a desert vibe or palms for a tropical feel.
Natural Materials: Incorporate materials like bamboo, rattan, or stone that are commonly found in the regions you love.

6. Incorporating your Own Personal Memories
Use your camera roll or journals to your advantage and incorporate photos or journal entries from your trip into your home:

Photo Displays: Create a gallery wall with pictures or framed mementos from your trips.
Travel Journals: Use your travel journals or maps as part of your decor, framing pages in a shadowbox frame.

By thoughtfully integrating global elements into your home, you can create a living space that reflects your adventures and keeps the spirit of exploration alive. Let your home tell the story of your travels!
