Position Overview

As the Managing Director, you will act as the Integrator to the Visionary, ensuring the company’s operations align seamlessly with its strategic objectives. This role requires a leader with a proven track record in operations management, financial leadership, and team mentorship, ideally within the service, design, or construction industries.  Experience in an entrepreneurial company is a plus.

Key Responsibilities Operations and Strategy

  • Ownership Thinking: Demonstrate a proactive mindset and take responsibility for outcomes, acting as if the Crimson’s success depends on their efforts. Approach challenges with initiative, focus on long-term value creation, and make decisions that align with the company’s goals and vision.
  • Thought Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Founder/CEO to identify opportunities, solve challenges, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with the leadership team (Director of Design, Operations, Sales) to create and execute long-term strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and lead teams, fostering accountability, productivity, and a positive work environment (LMA).
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee administration, finance, operations, Director of Growth (marketing, sales), Director of Design, Procurement, and HR, aligning cross-functional teams for maximum impact.
  • Procurement Leadership: Oversee procurement processes to optimize cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and implement systems to streamline operations and increase effectiveness.

Administration and Finance

  • Financial Leadership: Oversee accounting operations, leading the accounting team and ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Profitability Analysis: Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and recommend strategies to improve profit margins.
  • Studio Design Management: Leverage ERP systems to optimize financial reporting and operational workflows.
  • Key Metrics:  Understand which key metrics will drive business growth.
  • Risk Awareness: A basic understanding of financial compliance, sales tax, and risk management strategies.

Qualifications

Required:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years in a leadership role, ideally in service, design, or construction industries.
  • Expertise in accounting principles, financial analysis, and budgeting.
  • Experience with ERP systems and data analysis tools.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Financial literacy, including a solid understanding of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) to interpret and make data-driven decisions.

Preferred:

  • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) – certification not required.
  • Background in managing multiple projects and driving results in creative or service-based industries.
