No More Waiting For the Weekend
Weekends are prime time to have fun, explore your city, and enjoy time with friends and family, but why always wait for the weekend. At Crimson, we agree—we need to love and embrace the weekday! After a long day of work or chores it can be tempting to crash as soon as you walk in the door, but you deserve to have fun too! Adding fun elements to your weeknight activities, no matter how small, can bring your evenings from basic and boring to an absolute blast. Here are some of our favorite fantastic ways to spice up your weeknights.
Have a Weekly Theme-Night
Theme-nights are an exciting way to get the entire family or your friends involved in your weeknight fun. Dedicating specific evenings for activities such as a movie night, playing board games or card games, and even trying new cooking challenges is sure to get everyone excited. Even better? Try all three together! Pick your favorite movie or series, choose a meal and game that goes along with it, and have an evening immersed in the world of your show.
Enjoy the Outdoors
After likely being inside all day staring at a screen, reconnecting with nature is one of the best ways to enjoy your evening. Try taking a hike or going on a bike ride. Bonus points if you bring a camera along to capture the scenery! If you have a local park or reservoir, take a sunset walk with friends or loved ones. Taking time to enjoy nature significantly benefits one’s mental and physical health by reducing stress, generating positivity, and lowering your heart rate and blood pressure. There truly is no downside to enjoying the beautiful world around us!
Join a Social Group
For the social butterflies of the world, joining a social group that meets weekly is a great idea! Check out your local social groups such as book clubs, trivia nights, or fitness clubs. Our executive assistant, Diana, loves joining a local game of pickleball after work! Joining a group that shares your interests and hobbies helps build a sense of community in your life, boosting your mental health. And who doesn’t enjoy talking about their favorite things? Who knows? Maybe joining a social group will help you discover your new favorite book or a new friend.
Relax and Recharge
After a day that can only be described as “go-go-go,” sometimes we just need an evening to recoup. Enjoying a spa night with soothing skin care is the perfect way to pamper yourself. Enjoy a warm, cozy bath while listening to an audio book or podcast to help you wind down. Another beneficial element of relaxation includes journaling or meditation. Being mindful and setting your intentions for the next busy day or week can help you navigate the stress of everyday life more easily. We strongly recommend taking this time to unplug from devices to fully reset and unwind.
Explore your City
Why travel to a brand new city when you can explore one nearby? Try exploring a part of town or a local city that you don’t know much about. Even going out for dinner or dessert one night a week can make your evening more exciting and unique. Maybe you just discovered a cool museum exhibition down the road or a friend suggested their new favorite restaurant. Adventuring locally is best enjoyed with friends and family, but solo adventures are great too! If you are Columbus natives like us, we know there is no shortage of places to see and things to do right in our own zip codes.
Get Creative
Late nights tend to be a time when the most creativity strikes. So spend your evening doing something artsy and inspiring! Recently at Crimson, we made vision boards and we had a fantastic time creating them. Creative displays help one to visualize their goals or dreams. Maybe your dream is to become a writer! Try drafting a no-pressure short story or blog. You can always welcome the family in too with a kid-friendly craft night!
Volunteer Locally
Getting out into your community and beyond can greatly impact others, but it also can greatly impact yourself. Volunteering to help those in need through a group or organization impacts the world around us, helping to build a better community and even giving you a sense of purpose. Small acts of kindness can have a big impact too! Leaving positive notes for others, donating to someone in need, or even giving your waiter a little extra for a tip will bring joy to both yourself and those around you.
At times, it can feel like the weekdays blend together when we are stuck in the same routine. Adding fun new activities to your free time during the week can help you change up that routine and create exciting experiences. Whether you decide to try something from this list or have an idea of your own, try something new each week and see just how much it benefits you. Afterall, it’s a fact that doing something fun helps improve your mental and physical health! Doctors orders!
