Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Stauffer. She and her team share their story with us below:
Born in Paraguay to two Mennonite missionaries, Cheryl has long been interested in the way our surroundings influence who we are and who we want to be. Natural beauty shaped Cheryl’s childhood and continues to guide her work as CDG’s fearless leader. In every project, CDG aims to cultivate a sense of grand, transportive wonder in spaces made for daily living. Through unexpected color and texture, thoughtful details, and general rules-breaking, CDG creates spaces that serve and delight the people who experience them.
In the nearly twenty years since founding CDG, Cheryl has grown her business from a one-woman show to a beloved national firm, recognized by the best in the industry. And in turn, CDG has paid that success forward, donating a portion of all client fees to non-profit organizations, hosting galas and galvanizing neighbors and clients to follow in philanthropy. CDG is driven by curiosity, forward thinking design, and unwavering attention to detail, and we love a challenge.
VoyageOhio: I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Cheryl: There are many layers and details to each piece of a project; it is a complex industry. Knowing how to navigate the many working pieces and streamlining processes to increase efficiency has always, and will always, need continuous improvement.
To get to the top, you have to start at the bottom. You have to be willing to take leaps beyond just interior design; get out from behind the computer and go to your sites, see the whole process from start to finish, and actively participate. Don’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves and get dirty. All of our employees embody these values and I am proud to have curated a team of curious leaders.
VoyageOhio: As you know, we’re big fans of Crimson Design Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Cheryl: Crimson Design Group is a full-service interior design firm offering a range of services to both commercial and residential clients, from renovations to new construction, furniture selection to complete project management.
We truly believe that when it comes to interior design, the journey is just as important as the destination. Creating one-of-a-kind interiors is just one part of our mission. To us, it’s also essential that our clients find joy in the process, not just the product. We create people-inspired spaces that tell their clients’ stories. High-touch service, passionate drive and creative excellence — this is how we stand out. I love being able to make a difference in our clients’ lives and how they view and experience their spaces. The art of interior design can have an emotional and spiritual effect, and I enjoy creating something beautiful for the client to appreciate.
This industry is full of makers and creatives who think outside of the box and bring ideas to life; the people and their ideas are what make interior design so magical! Most of my inspiration comes from my travels and experience with other cultures. From the vibrant colors and patterns of the Maasai tribe in Africa to the refined architecture in Europe, I see art and inspiration everywhere I go. My goal is to make the typically unseen beauty, seen.
VoyageOhio: Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Cheryl: Bring us a feeling, and we’ll make a plan. Whether you want to redesign your entire home or just a room, we’ll take the project head-on. Every client works closely with a dedicated team of CDG professionals, each of which shares in our core belief that bringing to life your story through design starts with listening to you. From daydreaming to execution, our process is both co-creative and structured, transparent yet playful, and always completely unique.
