Hello everyone!
This time of year, I love to reflect on what we have accomplished. What I am most proud of is our decision to partner with Asia’s Hope to build a house in Thailand so that 22 orphaned kids can have a home, parents, siblings, and all of their needs taken care of. I have always dreamt of doing something that brings the design community and everyone around us together to be part of something that will change the world. This endeavor has made me dig deep into what I believe. As John McCollum from Asia’s Hope told me, “If it’s not scary, then your dream is not big enough”. To be a courageous leader means you have to be willing to conquer the fear that comes with doing great things. Well, the last few months have pushed me out of my comfort zone. I am learning to live with what it means to be comfortable in the uncomfortable.
In November, we kicked off our Asia’s Hope house project with a Modern Prohibition party. This all started as a suggestion from a friend to host a guys’ bourbon night. Well, like most things in my life, I wanted to take it to another level. (Plus, I needed an excuse so women could show up too!)
The evening was one of the best nights of my life ( up there with my wedding day and the birth of my children 🙂 ). I was blown away by the support of our vendors, clients, friends, and even strangers, who all came together to make this evening a success. Our goal is to raise $150,000 to build this house together. Through the support of everyone, we have raised close to $100,000 so far. This is my first experience in raising money for a cause and WOW we have succeeded together!!! Plus, everyone had a great time. So many people came to me during the party and asked when next year’s party would be. To be honest, I had not thought about doing this again… but now? Who knows!
If you couldn’t make it to the party, check out what you missed in our video (below) and stay tuned to see what we do together in 2019!!! Maybe we’ll even throw another smash-hit party! 😉
Thank you for being a part of our journey. I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year. Let’s dream BIG dreams together in the new year!
